This is something that I am willing to share with those who join up through my blog, but unfortunately I can’t just tell everyone by making a post, as it might endanger the process.

Anyhow, as a result of reading what this blogger had to say, I checked a few of my old linkvana posts, to see if they were in fact showing up in google. I did this by checking the title of my linkvana blog posts in google, with the search queery like so : “blog post title”

To my dissmay, it seemed that 80% of the blog posts where indeed not showing up in google. So after checking this, I decided I would voice my concerns to the Linkvana staff, and ask them what was going on, and indeed what could be done about this serious issue with the Linkvana system.

Here is what I wrote :

I don’t know if you guys are aware of it, but after checking a good deal of my links, posted at different stages over the last year or so, it seems that most of them are not staying indexed by Google.

I don’t know if there is an insider from Google in the system, trying to expose as many blogs as possible, but there is definitely a major problem with the service, as obviously deindexed links are of no use.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news, if you were not already aware, but this only just came to my attention.

I was happy to get a reply, this morning, just 12 hours after I submitted my concern via the ticket system.

Here is what they said :

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your email.

I would be completely and utterly surprised if your links did appear in Google if i’m being honest. Let me explain.

You must understand that there is not a search engine on the planet that will show you all of (or anywhere close to) your actual, real number of links using the link:domain.com command. Google will only ever show you a *very* small percentage of links they have found for your site. Yahoo will show a lot more but again nowhere close to the real numbers of backlinks that your site has. The reason is because search engines just don’t allocate their resources that way. Why? Because it would require resources beyond belief to display (and update very regularly) the backlinks of all the billions of sites out there. The benefit of doing this to the search engines is very minimal – why would they want to do this? It would also reveal more about their algorithm to the public which obviously is not what they want to do.

If you want to see how few links Google actually shows compared to everyone else enter this command: link:cnn.com into both Google and Yahoo, and see the difference in numbers.

However, your backlinks showing up is very different than whether a page has actually been indexed and even trying to find pages that are indexed within say a few weeks of them being posted onto our network is very hit and miss. If you try and find them using a snippet of text it is going to be 100% miss all the time as again, SE’s don’t allocate resources this way.

Try not to get too bogged down with the number of backlinks that are shown in Yahoo/Google etc – it would be much wiser for you to check your rankings for the phrases that you are targeting as this is a far better way to measure the success of Linkvana (as long as you’ve given the links enough time to ‘kick in’ – usually you can see benefits after a month or two of posting (maybe before!) as long as you’ve got a well optimized and white-hat site etc.

I can assure you that our networks of blogs are still performing very well meaning that our customers’ sites are ranking very well for the phrase that they are targeting. Not only our customers, but also us who use the system all the time – personally my sites have not been affected whatsoever.

As Alex mentions here, using any of the supposed “tricks” via google search queeries to find out any SEO information about how your sites are doing really is not accurate at all. Google really doesn’t want ANYONE knowing how well they are doing, in what the big G sees as “gaming the system”.

When it comes down to it, all the sites that I promote with Linkvana are STILL on the up and up, and gaining rankings for competitive terms.

So, hate to finish with a cheesy old adage, but well….

Well it is and it isn’t. The thing that I have found, is that a lot of people using Linkvana, don’t really want to pay $2 per post for their links. So they usually end up writing and uploading their own content. Now this is fine if you are only doing a few links here and there, for a few websites. For me however, and I am sure others too, I only really feel I get the most out of the Linkvana system, when I upload hundreds of posts into the system, to be sent of at a pre determined time interval, usually 1 per day. Also, I have over 50 sites in the system right now that I am doing this for….

So when you put those 2 factors together, you get to see that its a hell of a lot of work to get the most out of the linkvana system, without paying a premium for the posts.

Just recently Dave Kelly the owner of Linkvana and Arundel announced that there had just been a whole new network section that had been added on to Linkvana just recently within the last few weeks.

This is good news, because the more networks the system uses, the more diversified the links are that members will be getting. I say bring it on, and don’t stop there.

So far I have only found 2 other candidates that offer a decent alternative. The 2 choices are 3waylinks, and inlinks.

3WayLinks.net

This is a cheaper link building service that I have been using. Its owner Jonathen Ledger is quite well known in the industry, and I find the service to be quite professionally layed out. Basically the concept of this link building service is to link sites indirectly in a 3 way triangular exchange, hence the name.

Pros

-pretty easy to set up, just insert code into your page, and your links will drip over time

-cheaper at $47 per month

-a quick easy way to start your link campaigns

Cons

-pretty irrelevant linking structure (a site about cats might will link to a site about frying pan handles, and a site about baseball cards)

-kind of weak that once you stop paying you lose all your links

Inlinks

This is a service that I am just getting to know now, and from what I have seen of it so far, I like the look of it. The basic concept is that there are both publishers, and advertisers, and it works a little like adsense. So there are those that are paying for links on other peoples blogs as part of the system, and then there are those that are making money off the clicks of others.

The great thing that I can see so far about this service is that there is no membership fee, you simply pay for what you want to use, when you decide you want it. Everyone appears to gain from this service. The only question I have at the moment regarding this service is whether there is enough choice of links, but I will have to some further testing of the setup to find out. So far its looking pretty decent.

Pros

- No membership fee

- Nice interface

- Caters for publishers and advertisers
Cons

- Unsure of how many different niches available

- More work and monitoring required in setting up than Linkvana

Anyway, thats all I have for now, but will report more when they come to me. I am still adement that Linkvana is the most kickass service you will find, and if you have the money to invest, its definitely first choice.
